Zoe's first snow and white christmas and she won't even remember it.  It snowed more this week than it has in years here.  It's so beautiful.  We took Zoe outside just for a few minutes and let her feel the snow, she seemed kind of fascinated by it.  Zoe also had a great Christmas.  We spent christmas eve with my family and Christmas day with Jason's family.  Zoe did great at  both of them, noisy family and all.  She seemed to like being held by different people and of course all the lights.  It was definetley a year to be thankful for family and we can't wait for next christmas when Zoe will hopefully be a little healthier and we can take her out and about to see all the light and meet Santa.  We hope you all had merry christmases and were able to spend some special moments with your family  as well.

Zoe will be 4 months old tomorrow-- crazy how fast time has gone and how it feels like an eternity.  Zoe had her first echo today since we left the hospital on November 3rd.  She had been taking her new medicine, Bosentan, for about 3 weeks now so we were hoping for a bit of a change, but nothing looked any different in terms of her heart/lung pressures.  Jason and I were a bit dissapointed since she seemed to be doing so well, but we'll just give it more time.  The cardiologist was thrilled with how well Zoe looked and acted.  She is so much bigger and stronger than she was a month ago.  Since Zoe's liver function test came back great, the doctor decided to up the amount of Bosentan to twice daily.  So for now we are giving Zoe another few months on this drug and if nothing changes by early spring we will have to start the continuous IV drip of prostocycline-  let's hope we don't have to go there

The other big thing that happened today was that Zoe laughed for the first time.  It totally caught me off guard.  The three of us had been at the hospital all day and Zoe was being a bit fussy because her schedule was a bit off.  Jason had gone to get lunch for us and I was holding Zoe and bouncing her up and down by her armpits.  She all of a sudden got a big surprised look on her face and let out an all out giggle.  I was so surprised and bummed that Jason wasn't there to hear it.  She did it twice for me and then once when Jason got back.  We haven't been able to get her to do it since then.

Zoe also had her first party on Monday of this week.   The ladies at my parents church threw a shower for Zoe and I and since she was doing so well and there wasn't going to be any kids there I decided to bring her to it. She did great,  she was awake almost the whole time and just taking  it all in.  She was so lovimg all the new things to look at and people to entertain.

Zoe is still working on rolling onto her stomach, she gets about 3/4 of the way there and then gets stuck.  A slight push on her back and she will roll onto her tummy where she is content for a while.  Her hand/arm coordination is also getting so much better.  she will pick up a toy if it is put into her lap and she will direct the pacifier into her mouth when she sees it in my hand.

Zoe also got to see one of her primary nurses fromPortland on the day after Thanksgiving. Auntie Courtney was up inthe area visiting family with her husband and took the time to coem see Zoe and the two of us.  It was great to see her and fun for her to see how much Zoe had grown in a month.

About us, the Strom-Henry clan

We are the parents of Zoe Holtz Henry;  Jason Henry and Shannin Strom-Henry.  We live on Bainbridge Island, WA.  where we both grew up, moved away from and then moved back to.  Zoe will be growing up on the same property that I grew up on, except she will be living in her great grandparents cute pink farmhouse.  She will someday be going to the same elementary school that her grandpa (Bapa Toms) went to, I went to, and her great grandma Strom used to teach at.  Zoe will be lucky enough to be raised much like Jason and I were, right next door to both sets of grandparents and lots and lots of cousins, aunts and uncles and with lots of access to fun outdoor places to make forts in and ride bikes.  This is why Jason and I moved back to Bainbridge; to give Zoe the chance to be a normal child and not grow up too fast.  But before we get there, we're going to get through all of this, so here's the story to date...
