Zoe's First Valentines Day! We got Zoe dressed for the occasion as you can see in the photos. She wore her heart leggings from pal Lily and the sweater/jumper is one I wore when I was her age (my aunt Thelma kntted it)- So cute!
So Zoe has surgery scheduled for Wednesday February 25th. They will be putting in the broviac IV line and also putting in her G-tube at the same time. It's scary to think about but also nice to know we will hopefuly be making some progress. I love her soft belly so much I can't imagine seeing tubes in it but at the same time, we will have no feeding tube taped to her face. Jason and I and my mom will be having training next week here at the house to train for how to care for the IV line- it's frightening to think we are responsible for this, but at the same time the oxygen and NG tube seemed intimidating at one time and it's old hat now.
Zoe had two really great doctor appointments last week. Her liver tests came back to almost normal so it looks like quitting the bosentan seemed to do the trick. She has also packed on weight like crazy, about an ounce a day. She now weighs 14 pounds 1 ounce and is 25 inches long. The cardiologist is thrilled with how Zoe is doing. Her heart is still doing great and doesn't look stressed at all. Her oxygen levels are stronger and her respiratory rate has decreased a bit. Her hypertension has not gotten much better so we are still a go for starting her on the Flolan on the 25th. The cardiologist still seems to think that Zoe will pull through this. The fact that she is gainging weight good and getting physically stronger and breathing easier are all good signs. She said that most babies that have pulmonary hypertension as strong as Zoe's aren't able to grow as much as she has.
Please keep us in your prayers and thoughts as we go through these next few weeks-we'll need them. Zoe will be in the hospital around three days post-op and then we get to take her home again, we can't wait to have this all behind us and move on and see how well she does.
